Solar PV Installation at Grange Farm

Naturally Light Equitation approached ProStar Energy to install a solar system across their equestrian facility at Grange Farm Stables in Daventry, Northamptonshire. With energy demands spread across a riding school and three residential cottages within the grounds, the project required a carefully designed system capable of serving multiple buildings from a single installation. The result is a 19 kWp solar setup that cuts energy costs, reduces carbon output, and delivers long-term value across the entire site.

Client: Naturally Light Equitation

System Size: 19 kWp

Cost: £21,635

Annual Savings: £3,284

Estimated Payback Period: 6 years 2 months (15.18% ROI)

Carbon Offset: 5 tonnes CO₂ annually

Challenges and Solutions

Designing a system to serve four separate buildings across a working equestrian site required thorough planning from the outset. Our team conducted a full site survey to assess roof suitability across the riding school and cottages, ensuring the final design maximised generation potential across each structure.

By combining commercial solar panels with battery storage, we were able to create a system that makes the most of every unit of energy produced on site.

Key Results

The completed 19 kWp system at Grange Farm Stables is delivering consistent, clean energy across the riding school and three cottages, with the financial and environmental benefits clear from the outset.

Annual savings of around £3,300 reduce energy overheads across the site, with full payback expected within 6 years and 2 months representing an ROI of 15.18%. Given that the system is built to perform for 25 years or more, the long-term return is considerable.

The installation features 33 JA Solar JAM72D40-595/LB panels, chosen for their high output and reliability. These are paired with a FoxESS H3-PRO-15.0 inverter and a FoxESS EP11 10.36kW battery, allowing Grange Farm Stables to store surplus energy generated during the day and use it when it is needed most. This combination significantly reduces reliance on the grid.

On the environmental side, the system offsets in the region of 5 tonnes of CO₂ annually, a meaningful contribution for a rural business looking to operate more sustainably and reduce its overall carbon footprint.

Conclusion

This project demonstrates how a well-designed solar system can serve a mixed-use rural site effectively, combining generation and storage to maximise the benefit across multiple buildings. For Naturally Light Equitation, the result is a reliable, low-maintenance energy solution that protects against rising grid costs for years to come.
