Background:
St Nicholas School, a primary school based in Brighton, East Sussex, was looking to foster a more sustainable future so decided to invest in solar energy to reduce its carbon footprint and energy costs. The school partnered with ProStar Energy to install a state-of-the-art solar panel system on its buildings.
Solution:
Our expert solar team installed 80 of the JA 420 solar panels with a combined capacity of 33 kWp. This was paired with a 30 kW Growatt inverter. This set up was designed to maximise energy production and efficiency, ensuring the school could significantly offset its energy consumption.
Results:
Annual Production: The solar panel system is predicted to produce 39 MWh per year, providing a substantial portion of the school’s energy needs.
Financial Savings: The school is expected to achieve a payback period of just 4.5 years, after which it will continue to save on energy bills going forward.
Environmental Impact: The installation will reduce CO2 emissions by 9750 kg annually, equivalent to the carbon offset of driving 48,749 kilometres by car.
Conclusion:
The installation of solar panels at St Nicolas School is a prime example of how schools, colleges and educational institutions can benefit from renewable energy. With significant financial savings and a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions, the project underscores the value of investing in sustainable energy solutions. ProStar Energy is proud to have been part of this impactful initiative, contributing to a brighter, cleaner future for St Nicolas School and the community.
