Solar PV Installation at Lydiard Millicent Parish Hall, WIltshire

Helping a Wiltshire community hall lower its carbon footprint and reduce energy bills

Project Overview

ProStar Energy partnered with Lydiard Millicent Parish Hall, a valued community asset in rural Wiltshire, to deliver a bespoke solar PV installation designed to reduce energy bills and support local sustainability efforts.

As with many community buildings, the Parish Hall faced rising electricity costs and a growing desire to reduce its environmental impact. Our team was brought in to assess the site and provide a tailored renewable energy solution that would offer both financial and environmental returns.

  • Location: Lydiard Millicent, Wiltshire
  • System Size: 6.1 kWp with 5.2 kWh GivEnergy Battery
  • Total Cost: £10,495 First Year Savings: £1,108
  • Payback Period: 8 years CO₂ Reduction: 1 tonne annually
  • ROI: 10.56%

The Installation

Following a detailed site survey, we installed a 6.1 kWp rooftop solar PV system, paired with a 5.2 kWh GivEnergy battery to maximise self-consumption of generated energy.

The battery ensures any surplus electricity produced during daylight hours is stored and used when it’s needed most—typically in the evening when the hall is active with events and local activities.

Despite the rural setting and the age of the building, the system was installed efficiently with minimal disruption. The system was designed in full compliance with local regulations and tailored to meet the village hall’s typical energy usage patterns.

Financial Benefits

With a total investment of £10,495, the system is expected to save the Parish Hall £1,108 in the first year alone.

This translates into a return on investment (ROI) of 10.56% per annum, with a projected payback period of 8 years. From year 9 onwards, the system will deliver free, clean electricity—freeing up budget for other community-focused projects.

Environmental Impact

In addition to reducing bills, the installation will prevent the emission of 1 tonne of CO₂ every year—contributing to Wiltshire’s broader environmental goals and setting an example for other community facilities looking to embrace clean energy.

A Smart Move for Community Spaces

Whether it’s for parish halls, schools, or council buildings, solar power continues to offer a highly effective way to reduce running costs and emissions. The Lydiard Millicent Parish Hall installation highlights how even modest-sized systems can deliver significant, long-term value.
